The city council heard a proposal to create a community improvement district on Broadway, an effort to improve cleanliness, safety and the interests of businesses in the area.

The land bank said it is looking for board members to help in efforts to find new owners for vacant properties.

The city also got a report on the KC Community Gardens, which is expanding operations to the Municipal Farm site.

Upscale noodles have come to Broadway at the new Shio Ramen Shop.
