The Kansas City Health Department is offering parents and neighbors the opportunity to join community leaders, school officials and law enforcement officers for a daylong Safe Routes to School workshop Sept. 17.  This nationwide program has been funded by federal legislation to help communities make it safer for kids to walk and bike to school.

The course offers participants an overview of why safe routes to school matter, an opportunity to offer input, and a chance to help create an action plan for the community.

The course is free including lunch and snacks, but course size is limited. To register, contact Connie Farakhan at (816) 513-6066 or connie.farakhan@kcmo.org.
