At city hall, discussion about a single-terminal plan for the airport continued. Hoping to divert youth away from congregating late at night at entertainment centers like the Plaza and Westport, Mayor Sly James announced expanded youth programs. We also reported that two Downtown property owners appealed a Jackson  County judge’s ruling that dismissed their lawsuit against the Downtown streetcar system. Finally, we told you why a controversial city proposal to make a 9 p.m. summer youth curfew year-long in the County Club Plaza, Westport and three other entertainment districts is on hold for three weeks.

The planning process to develop a new Midtown Plaza plan continued. We had a recap of the first two small area meetings, the northeast section and the northwest section, where residents discussed issues around Armour Boulevard and 39^th Street.
