In continuing plans for transit’s future, businesses and residents gave input into the future of streetcars, including a proposed Linwood/31st Street route. A new report also said that commuter rail is still physically possible, but a commuter line to Union Station could be cost prohibitive. The city also took action meant to ensure that, as streetcars are added, funding will get better and more certain for buses.
Local clergy teamed up in a new initiative to fight violence in Kansas City, as the Aim4Peace program received a $1.2 million grant to serve a larger area of the east side.
