The health department closed this Westport restaurant Friday after finding numerous health code violations.
The restaurant Sung Son at 4118 Pennsylvania Avenue in Westport has been closed by the health department after numerous violations were found – including dead cockroaches in the onion bin.
The inspection on December 7 found 10 critical violations. The health department closed the establishment on Friday, citing “excessive roaches.” Sung Son cannot reopen until its owners can show they have an effective pest control management system in place.
A small sign on the door of the restaurant says it is closed today for plumbing problems.
Among the violations:
- Employees in the kitchen are not knowledgeable about food practices
- Cigarette butts on the floor beneath the counter at the rice station
- Dead cockroaches and cockroach egg sacks in the ice bin
- Live cockroaches and cockroach feces on and inside the egg roll packages in the kitchen
- Numerous live cockroaches on the prep table in the kitchen
