Westport Middle, High Schools may be closer to reuse

Westport High School, closed June 3, 2010, may soon have a new life.

The real estate company handling the sale of Kansas City’s surplus schools says offers are pending on Westport High and Westport Middle School. Block Real Estate Services has not disclosed the plans for the school, but says it is working on offers for the two schools at 300 and 315 E. 39^th Street.

Block also updated the status of other Midtown surplus schools:

• Swinney Elementary, 1106 W. 47^th, is under contract and waiting for plan approval for redevelopment as a medical office.
• Longan Elementary, 3421 Cherry, has been purchased by Academie Lafayette and will serve as its kindergarten through second grade program this fall.
