Westport holiday theater; prizes for Santas and sweaters

Looking for somewhere to wear that great holiday sweater? The Westport Center for the Arts has an idea for you.

The center presents “An American Christmas” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Westport Coffee House, 4010 Westport Road. From the press release:

In this Live Reader’s Theatre presentation, Kansas City actors Jennifer Mays, Curtis Smith and Jeanne Murphy present timeless holiday tales from Ogden Nash, Truman Capote, Shirley Jackson and O. Henry. And there will be two musical performance you don’t want to miss — Jennifer Mays’ take on “Santa Baby” and a new arrangement of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” by Michael Fraser, Tenley Hansen and Curtis Smith. Admission is $10. (We take credit cards.) Prizes will be awarded for the best Santa look alike and Most Festive Holiday Sweater. Come early – or stay late – for coffee from the Westport Coffee House, or a great Burger and beer at The Green Room.
