Weekend festivities may close streets, reroute buses

Just a reminder that the weekend St. Patrick’s Day partying may cause some streets to be closed this weekend.

Down in Brookside, there’s a St. Patrick’s Warm-Up Parade on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. That one goes down 65th Street and Wornall Road and will close 63rd Street. Other road closures include 63rd Street from Wornall Road to Main Street; Main Street from 63rd Street to Meyer Boulevard; and Meyer Boulevard from Main Street to Brookside Road.

In Midtown on Sunday, the Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day Parade runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parade route extends along Broadway Street from 31st to 43rd streets. Marchers will gather along Broadway Street from 31st to 33rd streets and along 33rd Street from Main Street to Pennsylvania Avenue.

On both days, parades and special events will cause Metro buses to reroute.  The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) will open the Regional Call Center at 816-221-0660 form 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday to help customers navigate to all the area’s special events. Details for all reroutes and service to the events is available at www.kcata.org.

The Big 12 Tournament continues in downtown Kansas City. Main St. MAX is providing frequent service to the games at Sprint Center.  The Metro is rerouting buses around closed streets near Sprint Center. Additional streets in downtown will close on Saturday morning for the Big 12 5K Fun Run.
