Two Westport restaurants rate among city’s best

port-fondaTwo Westport restaurants, Bluestem and Port Fonda, are among the top 10 in the metropolitan area, according to USA Today.

Its 10 best travel section recently listed the restaurants based on those with the most appeal and best reputations.

Bluestem ranked number one and Port Fonda number nine.

Local reviewer Lisa Waterman Gray praised Bluestem for exquisitely prepared and presented new American cuisine served with eloquence.

bluestemAs for Port Fonda, she said it serves dishes with “authentic Mexican flavors and contemporary twists.”

Eat there, she said, and “You’ll be planning your next visit before you finish your current meal.”

The other winners:

Number 2 is the American Restaurant at 200 E. 25th St.

Number 3 is the Justus Drugstore in Smithville.

Number 4 is Story in Prairie Village at 3931 W. 69th Terrace.

Number 5 is Michael Smith downtown at 1900 Main Street.

Number 6 is Piropos at 4141 N. Mulberry Drive

Number 7 is the Rieger Hotel Grill and Exchange in a historic building at 1924 Main St.

Number 8 is The Farmhouse at 300 Delaware St.

Number 10 is Avenues Bistro at 338 W. 63rd St.

The reviewer says all the restaurants “promise a stellar experience and a taste of the city that you just can’t miss.”

Surprisingly, no barbecue restaurants are listed but Travel + Leisure recently listing Kansas City as the number 3 city in the nation for barbecue.
