Two arrested in bus driver attack

The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority is sending out a big thank you to citizens who helped catch two men accused of assaulting a Metro driver on July 13.

“We greatly appreciate the citizens who contacted law enforcement with tips about the identity of these men. While incidents of violence on Metro buses are extremely rare, it is important that the community responds quickly to these threats to public safety,” the ATA said.

The Metro operator who was attacked continues to recover and is expected to return to work.

Update:
The Jackson County Prosecutor says Lewis W. Perkins, 20 (dob: 5/10/1993), faces Assault 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges. The second suspect in this case is a juvenile.
