Time to register for Kansas City Public Schools

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, kids, but its time to at least start thinking about the beginning of the next school year.

To that end, the Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) is encouraging families to immediately register their students for the 2013-2014 school year and avoid the potentially long lines that could await them closer to the first day of school.

Here are the details:

All KCPS students are required to register before school starts on Monday, August 12. By registering early, families will avoid potential last minute rush to complete the process. However, a significant number of students are currently registering, or have yet to fully complete the process. This puts those students at a disadvantage in their preparation for increased student achievement.

“When school begins, the minds of students and families should be clear to focus on becoming college, career and workforce ready. By completing the registration process today, families will have one less distraction to success,” said Superintendent Dr. R. Stephen Green.

  • Families may register by visiting the KCPS Admissions Office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • The office is located at 1211 McGee Street, Kansas City, Mo.
  • Families must provide the student’s birth certificate, a copy of a lease or mortgage, and a copy of a utility bill.
  • For more information, please call KCPS Admissions at (816) 418-7505.
