Summer job workshop this weekend

The city plans to hire up to 100 teenagers and young adults for summer jobs, and those who want to apply can get a leg up this weekend.

Kansas City youth interested in participating in the 11th Annual Bright Future Summer Job and Internship Fair to be held April 25 can get help preparing resumes, sharpening their interview skills and other information at a Pre-Employment Workshop this Saturday.

The training session will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Southeast Community Center, 4201 E. 63rd St. Additional workshops are scheduled for March 28 and April 11.

“These workshops give youth who are sincerely interested the opportunity to compete effectively for summer jobs,” Mayor Sly James said. ‘

Pre-Employment Workshop space is limited. Job fair applicants must be 16 years old as of April 25, 2015. Registration is required at http://kcmayor.org/occe/brightfuture.

Private companies or agencies offering paid positions that are interested in participating in the April 25 fair also may register at http://kcmayor.org/occe/brightfuture.
