Browne’s Irish Marketplace in Valentine is among those dealing with storm damage this morning. Trees, like this one on 33rd Street just across from the popular business, are leading to a massive cleanup. Many residents are also still without power.
KCPL said last night’s storm caused the largest single storm outage it has seen since the ice storm of 2002.
This system stretched from the Springfield area all the way up to Maryville, Missouri. It had sustained winds of more than 60-70 mph and gusting in excess of 80 mph.
“Due to the widespread damage, we expect a multi-day restoration effort for some areas of our service territory where the most damage occurred,” KCPL said on its website.

To report trees down in the public right of way in the City of Kansas City, call 311 or contact them @KCMO311 on Twitter. Our 311 call center is fully staffed today; however, we are experiencing high call volume due to the storm.
All KCMO leaf and brush drop-off sites – http://kcmo.gov/publicworks/leafbrushdropoff – will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for storm debris disposal.
The KCMO Water Services Department and Parks & Recreation offices are currently closed due to power outage.
Traffic signals are being restored as quickly as possible. Non-functioning traffic signals should be treated as 4-way stops.
