Former Midtown resident and best selling author Gilliam Flynn will be the grand marshal for the St. Patrick’s Day parade Tuesday, March 17. Flynn wrote the books Gone Girl, Dark Places and Sharp Objects.

The parade will begin shortly after 11 a.m. at 33rd and Broadway and end at 43rd and Broadway.

Here’s some useful information for people who live on or along the parade route:

  • The staging area includes Broadway from 31st Street to Linwood, Linwood east of Broadway to Pennsylvania and 33rd Street west of Broadway to Main Street. Those areas will close as early as 7:30 a.m. on parade day.
  • All of Broadway and the blocks directly east and west will close between 8 and 9 a.m. They are expected to reopen by 2 p.m.
  • There is no parking along the parade route or staging area after 3 a.m. on the day of the parade.
  • Businesses along and near the parade route will once again be offering parking space for a fee.
  • The parade committee will put out trash cans and has volunteers to help with cleanup. Businesses and neighborhoods along the route will be helping out as well.
