Sentencing in Troost barbershop murder

One of the suspects in a Troost Avenue barbershop robbery and murder in 2011 has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

A Jackson County judge on Friday sentenced Georgio M. White to 20 years in prison for the November 2011 murder of Joe Jackson, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced.

The other suspect, David O. Waters, has a court hearing scheduled for January 18, 2013.

According to court records, the body of the victim, Joe Jackson, 53, was found inside the barbershop where he worked in the 3400 block of Troost Avenue. Video and blood droppings led officers to a nearby apartment, where managers identified the defendants. White shot himself when he shot the victim, according to a witness.
