Sentence in 2010 Tutera murder

tutera-murderRobert L. Frazier, who was charged in connection with the May 2010 murder of Kansas City businessman Michael Tutera, was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Tutera was found slain at his home in the 5300 block of Sunset Place.

In October, Frazier, 25, pleaded guilty to first degree burglary as part of an agreement with prosecutors to give a complete statement to a Kansas City Police Department detective.

Frazier had been charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action, but prosecutors agreed to reduce the charge after Frazier was identified as only being in a vehicle that took other defendants to the Tutera home, where Tutera was killed.

Frazier was the sixth defendant charged in the Tutera case. In May 2012, Troy Davis, 24, pleaded guilty to murder in exchange for two consecutive 10-year sentences. He also agreed to testify in the case. Earlier, brothers Matthew and Joseph Hendrix pleaded guilty and have been sentenced to 25 years in prison; a judge later reduced the Joseph Hendrix sentence to 14 years. Two others are awaiting trial.
