Rockfest, the biggest one-day rock festival in the United States, is back at Liberty Memorial on May 30 this year. Promoters expect almost 50,000 people to attend Rockfest, including Kansas City favorite Tech N9ne.

For Midtown neighbors, that means lots of extra traffic and people parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. Rockfest planners have released some details about the event for those living nearby:

  • Beginning at midnight the day of the festival Memorial Drive, Kessler, and 29th Street will be closed.
  • Rockfest will provide off-duty police officers for general patrol.
  • Post-show cleanup will begin immediately following the end of the concert and continue through Sunday, May 31. Rockfest says it will have a 16-person crew dedicating 256 man-hours to cleanup, and will move from neighborhood to neighborhood.
  • The doors to the festival open at 11 a.m. and the acts begin at noon. There will be fireworks at 10:55 p.m. and the loud noise is scheduled to end at 11 p.m.

would you be able to tell me how to contact the ones who planned the actual event? Stage set up, booths, that sort of thing? Having a problem trying to get information. I have a complaint and am trying to get it to the correct personnel before having to escalate….something I really don’t want to have to do.

What an absolute joke. I can assure you, there was no where new 50,000 fans there. There wasn’t 40,000. I don’t care what anyone says. 60% were wasted beyond belief, 30% were probably passed out most of the time, 20% probably didn’t even know where they were or even carried. It was a simple drunk-fest. The remaining 10% got arrested. Not one fan stayed for entire fest either. It didn’t sell out, guaranteed.
