Regional bus effort drives forward

bus-interiorPeople are working to make it simpler to ride area buses, but it gets complicated.

Thursday of next week, a study group is holding a public meeting to get input on how to co-brand a linked bus system.

The brands for Johnson County buses, Kansas City buses and others will remain distinct, but the new brand will apply to things like a one-stop regional transit website, a common fare collection system and a regional transit map.

The transit stakeholder forum group is holding the meeting from 5 to 6:30 p.m. , March 27, at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center, 4801 Rockhill Road.

The stakeholder group of area transit experts gathers information and input from bus riders and provides it to the Transit Coordinating Council.

The council includes city and county leaders from throughout the area who are working to unify public transportation.

They want to make it so riders no longer have to navigate four bus systems separately and pay different rates for them.

And they are looking for a co-brand that they say involves a brand partnership among others in “a strategic coordinated alliance.”
