There was a lot of school-related news in Midtown last week. The California-based Citizens of the World Charter Schools announced they will open two elementary schools in Midtown in 2016, and later a middle and high school.

Meantime, discussion over the future of Westport High School continued, as the school district gave residents a chance to react to the news that Academie Lafayette Charter School would not be part of a redevelopment plan.

At city hall, the annual survey of citizen satisfaction was released, and city officials were pleased.

A popular 1960s coffeehouse singer is coming back to Kansas City for a concert, and the director of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art got an award from the French.

Our Uncovering History project took us back in time to the beginnings of the Southmoreland neighborhood.
