Police seek answers in murders of woman and infant

Police and supporters on Tuesday canvassed the area around Blue Hills Park seeking information on the murders of a woman and her infant daughter.

They also told residents and others about a rally at 3 p.m. today at the park, where pink balloons flew next to pictures of the victims.

A cousin found Myeisha J. Turner, 28, and her 3-year-old daughter, Damiah White, shot to death Aug. 23 at their home at 55th and Wabash.

Turner’s 1-year-old son was found there wandering alone but unharmed.

The canvass is to encourage anyone with information to step forward and to spread news of the rally today.

Speakers are to include Ad Hoc Group Against Crime, Mothers in Charge, family members, Mayor Sly James and Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.
