Plan ahead for Waterfire this weekend. 35,000 attended last year

Waterfire Kansas City returns to Brush Creek on Saturday, Oct. 27 for the sixth time. WaterFire is a unique event featuring floating bonfires on Brush Creek, live music and dance performances, and food from Plaza restaurants.  It begins at dusk and runs until midnight.

The free celebration attracted 35,000 people last year. The easiest way to get to Waterfire from Midtown might be to take a special Main Street MAX Orange line bus. The Area Transportation Authority is stepping up service with buses running every 15 minutes instead of every half hour.

Here’s the schedule:

•        Begin at 6:10 p.m. from 74th Terrace & Broadway.

•        Begin at 6:21 p.m. from 3rd & Grand Park-and-Ride.

•        Last northbound bus leaves The Plaza at 12:54 a.m.

•        Last southbound bus leaves The Plaza at 12:49 a.m.

Throughout the rest of the day, MAX will operate its regular Saturday schedule. Regular fare on MAX and Metro buses is $1.50.
