Pilgrim chapel plans unusual Easter service

The Pilgrim Chapel in Hyde Park is offering a “be-bop, hip-hop, jazzed-up version of the life of Jesus, based on the work of the infamous American comic, Lord Richard Buckley” for Easter this year.

This performance of “The Nazz” features blues performer Danny Cox and musicians Joe Miquelon, Bob Walkenhorst, Ben Meade, Kaye Johnston and Michael Johnston.

Pilgrim Chapel says the service will culminate with a rousing rendition (featuring Brooks Gentleman as a “live” skeleton) of “Dem Bones,” a traditional spiritual song. The Reverends Elizabeth and Roger Coleman, chaplains of Pilgrim Chapel, will lead the Easter celebration, which will include the Eucharist and other elements of a traditional Easter worship service.
