New shelter opens for homeless veterans

An organization serving homeless veterans will dedicate a new shelter at 35^th and Michigan tomorrow.

The new shelter, called the Heroes Home Gate House is a program of Footprints, Inc and the Homeless Veterans Initiative of the US Veterans Administration.

Footprints established its first Heroes Home Gate shelter in 2011. It is now opening a second home to serve homeless vets.

An open house is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 30 at 2015 E. 35^th. The dedication ceremony will be at 1 p.m.
