New Main Street business can make you a sign…by tomorrow

Charles Payne and his wife Amy Ortman decided to open a new business, Signs by Tomorrow, on Main Street. They say they like the lifestyle in the urban core and see an opportunity to grow in an area that is being revitalized.

Charles Payne, owner of the new Signs by Tomorrow franchise at 3637 Main Street, says he sees a good business opportunity in his Midtown location. The Kansas City Chamber of Commerce joined Payne for the official ribbon cutting of the new store yesterday. Signs by Tomorrow offers a one-day turnaround on almost 80 percent of its products, which include signs, custom flags, custom lettering on vehicles, and other graphic displays. Payne has not owned a business before, but he has been in the sign and graphic business for more than a decade. Payne says his wife Amy Ortman is an integral part of the management team, although she also has a “day job” as a physician at a Kansas City hospital. They have two employees.
