Neighborhood alerts straight to your phone or email

The City of Kansas City and the police department can now send you immediate alert messages if you sign up for Nixle, a new service to send either text messages or email alerts to specific areas of the city. Once you’re enrolled, you’ll get important alerts from the police and other agencies that are specific to your neighborhood. There are two ways to sign up:

  1. Text your zip code to 888777
  2. Go to www.nixle.com and sign up online

Nixle will ask you for a location around which you want to receive alerts. If you live and work in different parts of town, you can sign up for alerts in more than one place. You can also choose whether you just want to get alerts, just advisories (less urgent than alerts) or alerts, advisories and community or neighborhood news.
