More good news for Broadway

Ambassador Apartments

One of  Broadway’s “problem” buildings may be on its way to a brighter future. The Kansas City Star reports a New Jersey firm has bought the building and intends to gut it and create market-rate apartments. New Jersey redevelopment company Antheus Apartments, which has already revived several apartments on Armour Boulevard, recently bought the building.

While other parts of Midtown have experienced a renaissance, Broadway has lagged behind. But recently, things have been looking up. The Chatham Hotel and Valentine Apartments have recently been renovated. Metropolitan Community College has also moved its healthcare programs to a newly-remodeled building. The City Council is currently considering a proposal for a community improvement district to benefit the Uptown Theater and Shoppes, and  the Broadway Westport Council has plans to ask for a larger community improvement district to provide security, cleanup and other services.
