More details on bus service suspension

Here’s the latest from the ATA about the suspension of bus service today:

The City of Kansas City, Mo., and the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority have agreed to temporarily suspend bus operations starting at 1  p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. Service is tentatively scheduled to resume in the morning of Friday, Feb. 22.

This temporary suspension in service has been made due to extremely treacherous road conditions that are no longer safe for bus operations.

Express routes 15X-Truman Road Express, 28X-Blue Ridge Express, 37XX-N. Broadway Express, 38X-Meadowbrook Express, 51X-Ward Parkway Express, 69X-Liberty Express, 152-Lee’s Summit/Raytown Express, 170-Blue Springs Express and 471-71 Hwy. Express will provide one trip at noon today. No later trips will be offered.

Residents should minimize travel during this weather event in order to allow snow removal crews and emergency responders greater ability to perform duties.

Phases I and II of the City’s Snow Ordinance remain in effect. As outlined in the Snow Ordinance, motorists parked on assigned Emergency Snow Routes face the possibility of vehicles being ticketed or towed. Vehicles without adequate tire tread that get stuck on a major thoroughfare can also be ticketed.
