A Kansas City man pleaded guilty in federal court today for his role in robbing people related to Craigslist items.
Debvon Buckner, 24, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery conspiracy, five counts of aiding and abetting the robberies and one count of aiding and abetting the discharge of a gun during a violent crime.
The armed robbery conspiracy went on from May 1 to Sept. 19, 2014, according to a media release from federal prosecutors.
The most violent was July 16 in South Kansas City, when three victims met Buckner to look at a car that was falsely listed. Two armed men with him emerged from hiding to point guns and demand money.
When the victims tried to return to their car, the robbers shot the two adults several times. Then they took money and property, shot one victim again and fled.
One victim suffered life-threatening injuries but survived.
In two other cases, the thieves robbed people who were trying to sell XBOX electronics.
When a woman asked for her purse back, one of the men racked the slide of his gun and said, “Get back in the car or I’ll shoot you.”
Buckner will be sentenced later and is subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years.
