As the city council rushes to make a decision of the minimum wage issue, fast food workers and their supporters are at city hall today. As the city council hears testimony on raising the wage, workers in the now-familiar red tee shirts have packed the council chamber.
Meanwhile, about 100 faith community, labor leaders and low-wage workers gathered in a tent in front of city hall this morning. They held a prayer service and pledged to fast until July 16, the date the city council has set for making its final decision on the minimum wage issue.
Community members on both sides of the debate have been meeting for six weeks. The council is getting a report on what they sides agree upon, and where they disagree.
