Look out for Google Fiber tree scam

One of the contractors working on Google Fiber installation has alerted us to a potential scam.

Par Electrical Contractor says a woman near 59th and Grand was approached by a man who said he was working for Google. He said he was inspecting lines for tree clearances so Google could install their fiber, and that the home owners would have to pay for that.

Par Electrical says tree crews are clearing lines, but homeowners will never be asked to pay for that.

“This guy was trying to scam these folks and there might be more to come and I hate to see someone taken for work that does not need to be done,” Chester Jones, Par Electric Google Project Assistant/Locator said in an email.
