Local performers join “Listen to your Mother” movement

Kansas City joins a growing movement of “Listen to your Mother” performances across the country on May 11.

It began in Madison in 2010, and since then, the live performances have spread to 24 cities, including a performance at Unity Temple here that will benefit the Rose Brooks Center.

“Listen to Your Mother is a unique show that features local writers reading original works about motherhood,” according to the local participants.  “They are funny, gripping, sad, inspirational — everything.”

They hope Listen to Your Mother will become new way to celebrate Mothers Day.

The local cast consists of fourteen women, each sharing her personal story about some facet of motherhood.

• Tickets are $12 in advance and go up to $15 on the day of the show.
