Letting it hang out on 39th Street

untitled-(70-of-100)In the next two months or so, light post ambiance will arrive on 39th Street.

The Municipal Art Commission on Monday approved a permit for decorative brackets and signs on pedestrian light posts there from Southwest Trafficway to Stateline Road.

Main Street and other parts of the city have long had the feature that helps brand areas.

Amanda McGee, director of the West 39th Street CID,  told commissioners that the improvements are among plans to upgrade the streetscape.

The brackets and circular 39th signs will attach to the lights and can be removed and changed if needed, she said.

They will be a combination of modern and vintage, she said, with the decorative bracket having a kind of art nouveau look.
