Last chance to visit Toy and Miniature Museum before renovation

The Toy and Miniature Museum is reminding folks that it is closing for renovation on January 6, so this is a good time to make a last visit before the upgrade starts.

The museum will be closed until early 2015.

Meantime, though, the museum has several events scheduled. It also houses the midwest’s largest  collection of antique toys ranging from early dollhouses to  trains and the world’s largest collection of contemporary fine-scale miniatures.

  • Father Christmas Sunday, December 22, 1:30 pm: Hear stories of Christmases past from Father Christmas himself. Before passing along their wish lists, visitors will assist professional storyteller Jim “Two Crows” Wallen as he tells interactive tales of the role of Santa Claus throughout American history.
  • Music in the Museum, Saturday, January 4, 1-2 pm and 2:30-3 pm: Relax after the holiday hustle and bustle with a free concert. Simple Strings will fill the museum galleries with merry 19thcentury tunes played on a variety of stringed instruments.
  • Museum Store sale, Now through January 5: everything is on sale.
