KC Animal Shelter expects large influx of dogs after July 4th

The Kansas City Animal Shelter, already overburdened from the rescue of nearly 40 animals from a Midtown hoarder’s home, anticipates the arrival of up to 50 more pets on July 5. According to Michelle Davis of KC Pet Project, the shelter sees a large influx of dogs each year after the 4^th of July. She says the animals are frightened by fireworks and other explosions, and either jump their fence or run away during the festivities. In order to make as much space available for the anticipated demand, the Pet Connection is offering an adoption special tomorrow from noon to 5 p.m. They’ll offer adoption of cats and dogs, puppies and kittens for $25, which includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, deworming and the placement of a microchip. The Kansas City Pet Project is located near the stadiums at 4400 Raytown Road in Kansas City, Missouri.
