Village Shalom victim was mother, Midtown occupational therapist

One of the three people killed yesterday at two Jewish Community facilities in Johnson County has been identified as a therapist at Midtown’s Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired, 3101 Main.

She has been identified as Terri LaManno, 53, the mother of two children. LaManno was killed outside of the Village Shalom assisted living facility, where her mother lives.

The Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired released this statement about her death:

“Terri LaManno, occupational therapist at CCVI for eight years, was a victim of the senseless shooting yesterday at Village Shalom.  Our deepest sympathies go out to Terri’s husband, Jim, and their two children, Alissa and Gian.  Terri was a gracious, generous, skilled, and deeply caring individual who made a great difference in the lives of so many children and their families with whom she worked at CCVI.   She will forever be missed by all of us in the CCVI family.”

A southwest Missouri man with ties to anti-Semitic groups was arrested after two people were shot outside the Jewish Community Center and LaManno was shot in the parking lot of nearby Village Shalom.
