Help plan the Laugh-O-Gram studio future

laugh-o-gram

The community is invited to help plan the future of the historic Laugh-O-Gram Studio, where Walt Disney produced his first independent films.

Planning is underway for reuse of the studio at 1127 E. 31st as an animation-focused hub for creative engagement and education. Tomorrow evening from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., the community has a chance to learn about the project and offer input.

Participants will learn how the digital storytelling and creative media technology industries have impacted the community and how the Laugh-O-Gram building could be used to expand that impact and restore vitality to the neighborhood.

The meeting will include presentations, discussion and activities designed to help the feasibility team gain insight into potential uses for the studio. Partners conducting the feasibility study and developing plans for the site include BNIM Architects, Thank You Walt Disney, KCNext, the University of Missouri, and the Mid-America Regional Council. Funding for the planning process was provided by a planning grant from the Economic Development Administration.
