Health department offers free flu shots

The City Health Department is offering flu vaccine at no charge for the remainder of the flu season while supplies remain.

“Getting vaccinated against the flu is an important part of protecting yourself and those around you from getting the flu,” said Dr. Rex Archer, director of the Health Department. “Every flu season is different, so it is very important that each of us does our part by getting vaccinated every year.”

The Health Department has vaccine available on a walk-in basis during regular clinic hours for those aged two years and older, but supplies are limited.

If vaccine is not available the first place you check, don’t give up. Vaccine is still available around the community,” Dr. Archer said.

The Health Department’s clinic hours are 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.on Thursdays. The health department is located at 2400 Troost Ave.
