Green sales tax holiday coming up April 19-25

Spring shopping season is at hand with an offer to go green and save green. If you need a furnace, refrigerator, water heater or other such appliance, you can save money on Missouri’s Show-Me green sales tax holiday from April 19-25.

During that time, ENERGY STAR-qualified appliances bought  in Jackson, Clay, Platte and Cass counties will be exempt from city and county sales taxes.

The tax holiday applies to ENERGY STAR appliances valued at $1,500 or less, a Kansas City press release states. If an appliance costs more than that, the first $1,500 will be exempt from the sales tax.

Air conditioners, freezers, heat pumps and clothes washers are also covered.

Buy two.

There are no limits on the number of appliances that can be purchased and all are eligible for the sales tax exemptions.
