We’re featuring different types of graffiti from around Kansas City. This style is called “tagger graffiti” and it’s the most prevalent form seen around Midtown. According to the Gateway Crimes Task Force, “Graffiti writers gain recognition and status from their peers by placing distinctive tags in as many places as possible, in the most high-risk places and by how artistic their graffiti is. Many post images of their work on social network sites for peers to re view. Graffiti writers usually respect each other’s tags.
