Google says tree trimming follows regulations

These trees on 39th Street in Volker were cut by a contractor working for Google. Residents and neighbors say the severe cutting disrupts the streetscape and may harm the plants, but Google says its just following regulations before it installs its fiber lines.

Google says it is cutting trees on 39th Street and in the Volker neighborhood, but it is only following regulations.

As we reported on Saturday, neighbors and business owners protested after a tree-trimming crew chopped the tops off of trees on 39th Street and other streets in the area. Residents said the contractor hired by Google had butchered trees and some of them might not survive.

Jenna Wandres, a Google Fiber communications associate, said Sunday that Google was only cutting trees because it is required by regulation to do so before stringing fiber lines.
