Free vaccinations, microchipping for pets

Pets can be vaccinated and microchipped for free tomorrow during the Night Out Against Crime event at East 27th Street and Woodland from 4 to 7 p.m.

The City of Kansas City, Missouri, will partner with Spay & Neuter Kansas City to hold the free clinic.

“Vaccinating your pets will help them stay healthy and rabies-free,” said Patrick Egberuare, manager of the Animal Health and Public Safety Division. “Pets that are licensed and microchipped can easily be united with their owners. So often, the City’s animal shelter takes in animals that are owned pets, but without a license tag and microchip, we cannot contact the owner.”

Rabies vaccinations and microchipping will be free; however, pet owners will be required to buy a city license for each participating pet at the cost of $10.

This offer is open to all Kansas City pet owners who are not current on rabies and pet licensing. All pets must be on a leash or in a carrier.
