Bacon-Fest is this Saturday in Midtown, a chance to eat fine bacon cuisine and help a good cause.
Money raised by the 5th annual such fest goes the Rehabilitation Institute of KC, which provides medical rehabilitation and employment placement for people with disabilities.
The event will be outside the Institute at 31st and Main streets, in a parking lot and in tree-shaded green space.
“Local restaurants will serve up samples of creative bacon fare while you enjoy cold beer, unique bacon drinks and live music,” the Baconfest website says.
The Josh Vowell Band and Big Time Grain Co. band will play at the fest that is for people 21 and older, no children or pets allowed. There will also be a bacon-eating contest.
The cost is $50 and that also gets you a commemorative drink cup and T-shirt.
The Rehabilitation Institute was founded in 1947, and has helped many military veterans and provides services for children and adults who have suffered a catastrophic injury or illnesses that caused significant disability.
Their services deal with basic activities like mobility, communications and self care and with issues related to driving, living independently, attending school or working.
