East patrol campus near completion

east-patrolThe new East Patrol police station is on schedule for completion later this year, and the adjacent new crime lab will open next year.

City Architect Eric Bosch reported progress today to the city council public safety committee.

The $74 million project is between Prospect and Brooklyn Avenues, 26th and 27th Streets.

When the rain stops, Bosch said, work will commence on streetscapes, sidewalks and curbs.

Some street sections may be closed temporarily, and neighbors will be notified in advance, he said.

The station will open this year, but the crime lab will take longer. Much equipment will have to be moved and tested, and evidence will have to be moved as well, he said.

The lab is likely to open early in 2016, he said.
