Drug take-back brings in large haul in Midtown

Many folks cleaned out their medicine cabinets this weekend, and safely disposed of outdated or unused drugs that could be a temptation to teens and others.

Midtown has lightened its load of outdated or forgotten prescription drugs. At last Saturday’s drug take-back event at MainCor, residents turned in a large quantity of medications. According to Master Patrol Officer Jim Schriever, “We had an unofficial weight of 134.6 lbs. of meds turned in at our MainCor site alone, including many bottles of the Oxycodone, Oxytocin, Xanax, Ativan, Alprazolam and other forms of pain or beta blocking medications.” Law enforcement officials says teenagers often start using prescription drugs they find in their parents’ medicine cabinets.
