If you’ve ever had trouble getting around Downtown, here’s some news for you.
The city is converting some of its Downtown streets from one-way to two way starting this weekend. It says this will help drivers navigate more effectively.
Coming up this week
- Walnut Street will be converted to a two-way street between Truman Road and 20th Street on Sunday, May 5, weather permitting. To prepare, work will begin on Wednesday, May 1 with adjustment of traffic signals on Walnut Street at 18th, 19th and 20th streets.
Future changes
Crews will also convert the following key downtown streets from one-way to two-ways in mid-May:
- Baltimore Avenue between Ninth Street and 12th Street
- 14th Street between Broadway Boulevard and Wyandotte Street
- Walnut Street between Fifth Street and 12th Street (Please note, Walnut Street between 12th Street and Truman Road is already a two-way street).
No changes will be made to parking alignment during this process.
