Downtown streets being converted to two-ways

These maps show some of the Downtown streets being converted to two-ways this weekend and later in the month. See the link below for more detailed maps.

If you’ve ever had trouble getting around Downtown, here’s some news for you.

The city is converting some of its Downtown streets from one-way to two way starting this weekend. It says this will help drivers navigate more effectively.

Coming up this week

  • Walnut Street will be converted to a two-way street between Truman Road and 20th Street on Sunday, May 5, weather permitting. To prepare, work will begin on Wednesday, May 1 with adjustment of traffic signals on Walnut Street at 18th, 19th and 20th streets.

Future changes

Crews will also convert the following key downtown streets from one-way to two-ways in mid-May:

  • Baltimore Avenue between Ninth Street and 12th Street
  • 14th Street between Broadway Boulevard and Wyandotte Street
  • Walnut Street between Fifth Street and 12th Street (Please note, Walnut Street between 12th Street and Truman Road is already a two-way street).

No changes will be made to parking alignment during this process.
