Deadline for business license applications and payments

CITY-HALLThe city is reminding Kansas City business owners that the annual business license applications and payments are due by Friday, Feb. 28, 2014.

The Revenue Division has also updated many of its tax forms in conjunction with the City’s new tax administration system. Included in these updates is a revamping of the current occupational license tax forms (RD-101, RD-102 and RD-104 forms) to make the forms more user-friendly. For the first time, an electronic filing option is available. Businesses may file and pay using Quick Tax, the online revenue portal. In addition, businesses that prefer paper forms and instructions will find them online

New businesses or existing businesses changing their location, name or legal structure are required to complete a registration application and submit it to the Business License Section at 1118 Oak St., Kansas City, MO 64106 or via fax to 816-513-1264.

Failure to file and make payment by Feb. 28, 2014 will result in penalties and interest being assessed.

Taxpayers who have questions about their business license obligations may contact the Revenue Division Business License Section at 816-513-1135.

Media inquiries may be directed to Mari Ruck, commissioner of revenue, at 816-513-1106.
