Recent college grads, first-time homebuyers, or other potential homeowners – the city has a deal for you.

As part of the new Established in KC (Est. KC) program, the city is having an open house at 2626 Tracy in the Beacon Hills neighborhood this Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.

The open house will showcase the first Est. KC home available for purchase and rehabilitation, the city says.

According the a city press release, Est. KC (Established in KC), is a new homeownership program which identifies homes that are in need of rehabilitation and assists first-time home buyers who are interested in purchasing and rehabilitating the home. Est. KC offers a special homeownership annuity to program participants. After five years, home owners will be eligible for up to $12,000 in approved financial reimbursements which can be used for spending related to family goals such as payment for college loans, or application to the home-loan balance.

“Est. KC offers a unique opportunity for first-time home buyers to rehabilitate and create a home in Kansas City,” said John Wood, Director of Neighborhoods and Housing Services. “The property at 26th and Tracy is ideal for college grads looking for a first-home in Kansas City, or for any first-time homebuyer who is ready to make a long-term investment in one of Kansas City’s developing neighborhoods.”

The city says applications and the application checklist are now available, and applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of their credit history. The deadline for submission is June 30, 2015.
