Kansas City gets some respect in two recent ratings by ranker.com., one of them on the coolness factor.
The city ranks number 13 among the 50 coolest cities and number 23 for best 50 cities for vacations.
The ranks are based on votes, listings and rankings.
San Francisco was number one and New York City number two in both categories.
Just what makes a city cool? Part of it seems to depend on your age.
Those under age 30 ranked Kansas City at number 10 and those 50 and older ranked it at number 18.
Overall, the numbers are more encouraging than reports by the American Public Transportation Association.
The public transit advocacy group reported that Kansas City was not among the top 15 cities for urban travel destinations or among the top 20 cities for public transit.
