A 29-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in the Sept. 23, 2014, fatal shooting of Teresa Kellough in her home in the Manheim Park neighborhood near 42nd and Forest.

Nathaniel E. Brown faces charges of first degree murder and armed criminal action, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said yesterday.

“We are prepared to seek justice for Teresa Kellough, who was a kind and trusting neighbor,” said Jackson County Prosecutor Baker.

According to court records, Kellough was found shot in an upstairs bedroom. Spent shell casings and a live round of the same caliber were found near her body, with DNA on the live round matching Brown.

Brown told authorities he and his family lived in the house until about 2001. Kellough had given the family including Brown a tour of the home in May of 2014. They also found text messages and a phone call from the suspect on the victim’s phone.
